Your mom goes to college.

Iiiii love technologyyyy, but not as much as you, you seeeee... But I stiiiiill love technologyyyy, always and foreverrr.

Do the chickens have large talons? Why yes! They do indeed have large talons! You should always watch out for animals with large talons. They can be daaaangerous. But then again, sloths have pretty large talons, and I have yet to be notified of rampaging sloths dismembering innocent civilians. If anyone has news on any sloth attacks, let me know. OH and I would like to concede my ignorance in the case of my "Hot Springs" post. Vanessa F graciously pointed out that sea cucumbers are, in fact, the only echinoderms that can swim, whereas the rest of those suckers just walk ridiculously slow. Soooo technically sea cucumbers should be thought of as some of the most graceful echinoderms out in the big ol' blue. But as Vanessa also pointed out, I added the part about their grace comparing to that of a dead sea cucumber, thus verifying my analogy as accurate. Yup. So, uhmmm.. I was right. And now you should all reconsider your thoughts on the sea cucumber's place in its echinodermy crew. Give 'em some respect, maaaaan! They deserve it.

Alright, so I love meeting new people! And I met new people today! It was great!! The Wild Hope International crew was having their staff Christmas party today, and I was at Liz & Shannon's in town, so I went with! Yay! It was pretty sweet, they butchered a goat for it, and roasted it, and made ice cream that awesome, and we all hung out aaaaaand... I took their group photo! Because I'm not part of Wild Hope! So.. I was useful! Exclamation mark x 34234879!!!!!!!

I can't really think of much to add to that.. I got to talk to a bunch of people on Skype this morning, and say happy birthday to my mum! But.. Now that I think of it.. I don't know if I aaaactually said the words, "Happy birthday, mum!" I might've just.. Thought them. That happens a lot. And I talked to Vera & Christine! Which made me super happy! And Hayden! Which kind of.. Made me shake my head. Anyways. Good stuff.

It is now 11 PM and I'm kinda tired. Going to watch a movie tomorrow. And going for hang out/ caroling at the Russell's the day after. And our Pamoja staff party the day after that (Christmas Eve) and I'm going to Kirsty's for supper that niiiiiight and the day after is Christmas! Which means we'll most likely go swimming. And a couple days laterrrrrr, off to Tanga!! Yayyy!! I get my ocean fix, and some sunburnin' and snorkelling and sailing and possibly horseback riding on the beach and I don't know if I've already mentioned all this stuff but I'm stoked so I don't mind saying it all again. :) I might not post for a while, maybe when I get back from the coast. Sooooo Merry Christmas!! And Happy New Year! And I love you all, and I miss most of you, and some of you might get a Christmas present when I get home. Heh. God bless!

Blogalogalog

Did anyone ever read the Redwall series? Yeah? So you know "Logalogalogalog!" Right? Right. That's what I thought. I remember doing a book report on one of those once. The Pearls of Lutra! (I drew some pretty sweet pictures for that report, let me tell ya. My artistic peak was during my grade 6 year for sure.) And I loved them! And read every single one! Until one day it was pointed out to me, that every single book is the same. Not just similar, but THE SAME. It rocked my world, and internal grievous weeping ensued. Not really, but I stopped reading them very shortly after that. Hmm. Maybe I shouldn't have let myself be so influenced by that one person who, let it be known, did NOT have to ruin my fun like that. I suppose eleven is not an age where I felt particularly individualistic. My ideals then were not as they are now. Obviously. I like the fact that the driving force behind this post thus far, has been Redwall. That makes me happy. Now, I'm just speculating here, buuuuut I think that everyone who has read the series will also enjoy that. While everyone who hasn't will hang their heads in shame, and be saddened by the previously unknown bits missing out of  their childhood. It feels good to have the power to make someone sad. WAIT. No, I didn't mean that. It feels good to.. Not make people sad. Yeah. That's better. Completely and utterly disconnected from the former statement, yes.. Moot point. I want breakfast.

But I suppose breakfast can wait, while I actually fill you in on my days lately. WELL. Finished the financial upgrade <inserthappydance> aaaaaand now Jeremy has to find me something new and exciting to do! Though I was informed my next task may not be as 'glamorous' as a financial upgrade. I was all, "HEY NOW. When was the financial upgrade glamorous?!" I didn't.. Say that out loud.. But I projected it with great volume from my miiiiiind. My point must've been heard (I have telepathic powers, WHO KNEW?!) as Jeremy conceded, financial upgrades are not necessarily glamorous, though they do hold great value for the people it's been done for! Which makes it aaaaaalllll goooooood. I drove to Jacob's school and back the other day, I think I'm getting the hang of right-hand drive vehicles now! And the left side of the road! Methinks it helps that I've begun to dream in that fashion. All vehicles drive on the left. But let me tell you something that I still cannot get the hang of, and probably won't be able to until I leave: lightswitches. Those suckers mess with me EVERY TIME. The reason is that they're all different. All of 'em. Some flick one way for on, others flick the opposite, and I never know which ones are which. Drives me craaazy! I can deal though, because heck! I'm in Africa, and sometimes that's just how it goes.

As a friendly reminder.. My address here is:

I would LOVE to get letters from you! And I would LOVE to write in return! But I don't have all of your addresses, so it's up to you to send the first letter, bwahahaha. Or you can just comment with your address, and I'll send one to you. PS; thanks Vanessa :) You're the best!

LaaDeeeeeDAH

Okey doke, well I haven't blogged in a while. Soooorrryyy! As some of you know, I've decided to not go on facebook for the month of December.. Just because. I feel like I don't need facebook, and I kinda just.. Don't care. Anyways! Yesterday was the Arusha Christmas Fair, which is basically everything it appears to be: A fair, before Christmas, where people sell stuff, buy stuff, wander around, and eat. AND it was absolutely the most white people I've seen in one place in almost 3 months. There were lots of white people in Nairobi, but.. Not in a concentrated area! Trust me, it was weird. I did a shift sitting at the Pamoja booth with Lis in the afternoon, and it was fine until about 5. See, there was an event that had been planned, so that Lis' boyfriend Felis could propose to her. She was told it was a business meeting, starting at 7, so she wanted to be leaving the fair ASAP. But I was told, "DO NOT LET HER LEAVE UNTIL 6:30." Sooooo I walked slower, I went and talked to some friends at a different booth, I nonchalantly didn't help clean up until the last minute, THEN I had to go to the bathroom to change, because I absolutely couldn't do it in the car, and the line was oh so long! I could tell she was getting a bit annoyed with me, but I didn't care, 'cause I knew she wouldn't mind when she found out why! We ended up leaving at 6:23 or something like that, and I texted Jacob that we were on our way. Praise the Lord, everything was ready, we walked in at 7, Felis popped out of nowhere (Lis had been told he was in Simanjiro for the weekend) and proposed, and we went and ate some food. Sigh. It was grand, except for the super stressful bit where I had to make us late, in a non-obvious way. I mean, I could've just sat down on the grass and said "NO. I DON'T WANNA GO." But... That would be rather conspicuous, I think.

The fair is also going on today, so after church we're heading out there to go wander around. Or maybe we'll go to the pool, and then go out there. I dunno. Either way, it means a piki ride, which is soo much better than taking a car. Allow me to explain a little about bike riding here. There's the traffic lane going one way, and then the oncoming lane, and then there are bikes, wherever they fit. So you can go in a lane if you want... Or you can drive down the centerline, a foot away from oncoming vehicles. OR you can go around the outside, on the shoulder. Actually, people do all that in normal sized vehicles too, especially daladalas. Daladala drivers are CRAZY. Makin' third lanes where there ought not to be a third lane! I suppose it makes it more entertaining to drive then... SPEAKING OF WHICH, I did. Right hand drive, folks. In the left lane. Fun stuff. It was really weird when I got to the intersection where I was supposed to turn (There was also a car waiting to turn onto the road there), because I could not for the life of me, figure out which side of that vehicle I was supposed to be on. Christine must have noticed because she said "Driver in the middle!" which helped tons, haha. One thing I must say... I sucked at parking.

Raaiiiinnn

10:15 PM. Dark outside. Absolutely pouring rain, but still warm enough for me to stand out there, in a t-shirt, letting that beautiful beautiful water completely drench me. Nothing else is so rejuvenating as rain in Africa. After getting my fill of being rained on, coming inside to put on dry, comfy pajamas, eat some Oreos, and read a good book.

Thank you Jesus, for the comforts in life, and the little things that give us joy.

Still thinkin' about A&W Root Beer..

Since coming here, I’ve found myself lost, found, humbled, and encouraged. An explanation to start with, though! What’s the haps at Pamoja? I don’t think all of you actually know what I’m doing out here, or what Pamoja Ministries really does. To start with, there’s a curriculum called ISOM that Pamoja has assembled, which is for training students in the ways of pastoring their communities. Pamoja has also produced an album and a photobook with a group of Maasai, and have done two albums with a local contemporary gospel band called The Sowers Group. They’ve also recently finished putting the final touches on their original musical film, by the name of Nipe Jibu. All of the work done here clearly supports their mission statement: Discipling cultures through media. This probably isn’t what most people thought when they heard I was “Going to do missions work in Africa”. And honestly, I didn’t really know what I was getting into either. But that’s why I came here! I came to serve my God, and hopefully learn, and walk away with a dramatically revised understanding of the life changing work being done through the people here in Tanzania.

Personally, I know I was kind of floundering when I first arrived here. I had this immense feeling of being such a child, and not knowing what I was doing with myself. I vividly recall Jeremy asking, “So.. Can you do this? Okay, how about this? Or this?” and having to answer with, “No, I don’t know how to do that. Or that.... Or that.” I felt soooo small and useless, it was not a great feeling, I gotta say. But work was found for me to do! And it may be the most mundane, unskilled work ever, but nobody else has the time to do it, and it badly needs doing. So.. I’m doin’ it! Taking all the information in the old Quickbooks financial system.. And entering it into the new one! Yayy! It’s not bad, actually, now that I’ve got a system down. And it’s also not like that’s all I do, every day. But that’s not the point! The point is that I came here with not much to offer, and I’m still being used for a larger purpose. If I wasn’t here to fill in and do all the little jobs that use up time, the missionaries who have bigger projects to work on would have to take time out to do the little things. That’s how great God is! He takes us average folk, with not a talent in the world, and pushes us past our comfort boundaries. Which actually doesn’t sound great. But it’s good for me, which makes it fiiine! Anywho. Perhaps not the most exciting stuff you’ve heard all day, but something to think about, nonetheless.... I hope.

Well, have a good day, and know that I’m praying for you all :) God bless!

Nairobi?

I went to Kenya! Yay! So on November 2nd, Kim, Jacob and I went to Nairobi via the Kampala Shuttle. It’s about a 5-6 hour trip, including crossing the border and taking one rest stop. In Nairobi, Kim & Jacob rented a car, and we went and did fun stuff, including: milkshake-drinking, sushi-eating, Oreo-finding, purse-buying (1360 Kenyan Shillings = $17 US, for a leather purse. HOLLA!) aaaaaaand jail-visiting! We didn’t go to jail. But someone we know did. And it was kinda intense there for a while. But let me tell ya, prayer is powerful and things look like they’re going to work out for him! While in Nairobi, Kim bought a huuuuuge turkey for American Thanksgiving, and by huge I actually mean GIGANTIC. 14 kgs of turkey is not exactly your average bird. It’s for over 20 people, but STILL. Mucho meat. We also went through tea-growing country, which is ridiculously pretty. Nairobi is like any major city in the world, which kinda threw me off. It definitely changes what one perceives Africa to be. It’s not all mud huts and lions, people!

Sorry if I disappoint by ending this blog here, but I’m going to eat supper now. I promise I’ll write again before a week goes by!

Silly lizards anywaaayyyyyzzzz

I think I shall rename my blog, “The Gecko Saga”. Seriously, I don’t mind the lil’ guys! S’all good when they’re on the wall, or the ceiling, or scurrying away from me when I walk through the grass, but there are BOUNDARIES, people! As some of you may already know, I found one in my bed last week. I had gone into my room, and it was on the wall. Then I went to the bathroom, and when I came back, it was GONE. Of course, some people would’ve assumed it had just run back into its little hole in the wall, but not I! My gecko senses were tingling... So I THREW back the covers on my bed, and away ran the little rascal, straight off the bed to smack into the wall, sending me running out of my room, to my eternal shame. I went back into my room to find it had disappeared, leaving me slightly disturbed and more than slightly paranoid about the fact that I knew not whether lizards took vengeance on disruptors of their peace. Dramatic, I KNOW. So that was gecko encounter numero uno. Gecko encounter numero two..O? Uhh. Deux? Uhh.. Yeah. Sure. Gecko encounter numero deux! I was innocently washing my hands in the bathroom, and I turned around and grabbed my towel to dry my hands off, and the gecko went bookin’ it out from behind my towel and up the wall! I bet it was the same one as before.... Not quite as dramatic, nor as terrifying. Or maybe I’m just getting used to them! Yeahhh, that’s it... Just wait, by the end of my time here, gecko and I will be on first-name terms, and my leaving will completely devastate him. Or her. It, I suppose, would be the correct terminology in this case...

Onto more mundane, less reptilian matters! I like to brush my teeth. I bet you already knew that though, if you know me well. And if you don’t know me, go away, ‘cause it’s just CREEPY that you know how much I like brushing my teeth.  Har har, I jest. Uhhh well. I honestly don’t know what else to tell all y’all about, seeing as I forget stuff that happens almost instantaneously.

OH! Went swimming with Lis and Felis on Saturday, that was fun... Afterwards watched Pirates of the Caribbean, which is always good! On Friday there were people over here for Kim’s birthday, and we watched a movie that blew my mind. Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog! New fave, fo’ sho’. And on Tuesday, I’m heading to Nairobi with Kim & Jacob! Which will be crazy, I’m sure. Good times just waiting to happen. But isn’t everyday just a good time waiting to happen?! I think so. Well, most of the time, anyways.

Look! I don’t forget stuff instantaneously, after all! Yay me.

That reminds me! There's this dude at the church I go to, who I think looks kinda like a little Edward Cullen/ Robert Whatsisface. I laughed at him... In my mind..

Oh, look!

This is me. I have shorter hair. Well, I've had it for like 4 weeks. But you didn't know that. I posed. See that? That's me posing.

This is my room. I took the above picture from the chair on the left. Woohoooo for spacial orientation! Uhhh... Yep. There it is.

And this last one is taken out in Maasailand about a month ago by my dad. In Olerumo. Yeah, I like this picture. Dunno if you do. Heh.

WELL, there are some pictures. They don't upload very easily on facebook, so they're on here. ENJOY. :)

:)

It is getting HOT over here. Hot enough that I actually ENJOYED swimming. Weird, right? But I’m going to start with earlier last week, Tuesday morning, as a matter of fact. BRIGHT AND EARLY at 7, Davin and I went a runnin’. We tried to convince Jeremy to come with, but he wouldn’t do it. It was waaaaaayyy more difficult than I think it should’ve been. Now, to give myself a break, we were running on bumpy uphill roads, and the elevation here is about 1400m, sooooo.. I guess I did alright. We’ll see how much longer I last next time around!

All throughout the week, there was a plan being formed.. To go to the Hot Springs on Saturday! The plan worked out, and to the Hot Springs we went! There were two full vehicles of people that went, and I could name them all but it really wouldn’t mean anything to you. So I’m not gonna bother. BUT the main idea was that all of us had a great time! The Hot Springs has this awesome clear pool of water, and a spot that’s perfect for putting up a rope swing, which is what we did.

You can imagine the entertainment that was produced due to the swing... As well as the injuries that occurred. Well. Nothing major, but there was this ooooonnnnneeeee time, where we thought it would be just GREAT to get 4 people on the one swing. This was after an attempt with two, which was partially successful, and an attempt with three that really didn’t work. I guess we figured, “Hey, why not see how badly this can turn out?!” WELL. The plan was, for Jacob (there was a third Jacob there,  this isn’t either of the Jacobs from Pamoja) to get onto Nico’s back, and myself to jump onto Davin’s back, and Nico and Davin would grab the swing, and we would all go flying, and let go, and land with perfect form in the water! Yayy!! Yeah. No. Totally didn’t happen. Jacob, for some odd reason, took this running start to get onto Nico’s back, and he ended up just knocking himself and Nico into the water, hitting the big clump of roots on the way down. It was pretty much the funniest thing I’ve seen all week, and I almost fell over from laughing so hard. We didn’t bother trying again after that, because if it had actually worked, it still wouldn’t have been as great as seeing those two flop into the water, with the grace of a pair of sea cucumbers. Dead sea cucumbers, at that. On the drive back from the Hot Springs, it was the perfect time of day for seeing Mt Kilimanjaro, and lucky for us, she was out! The peak next to her, called Mawenzi, was absolutely clear, and although Kili herself was hazy, we could see the entire outline, which made me realize how absolutely MASSIVE that mountain is. Pretty darn neat, I’d say.

Soooo, the day after the Hot Springs adventure, was Sunday!! And that means church! Which I happen to enjoy immensely. What was also super fun, was my ride to and from church, on a pikipiki (motorbike). It sure beats going in the truck, on those bumpy roads. Later on, a few of us decided to go to the Cinemas to watch a movie. There were a bunch of people from church there, so while we waited for our movie to start, we hung out with a few of the kids. And ate ice cream. A whole 1.5L tub of it. Awwe yeah. Afterwards, in the car, I sang along with Justin Bieber (no hatin’ on the bro) Everyone seemed to love it, which doesn’t surprise me, seeing as my melodious voice, and Bieber’s great lyrics are the best of the best in today’s music industry! Psh, what’s not to love?

Ahhh, I crack myself up. Anyways, that was the hugest blog EVER, and I’m done now.

10/10/10

Okay world. Let me tell you everything that's happened in the past.. Little.. While. Today, after church, all of us Canadians on base (Plus a Namibian and four Aussies) went for lunch at Arusha Safari Lodge! We had super duper food, I got thrown into a swimming pool, Davin swam into a wall, and Natasha smashed two glasses. Good times, all around.

Yesterday, Kim, Kirsty, Davin, little Jacob, Natasha and myself all went horseback riding! Kind of. There was one horse with ringworm... Which we avoided touching in general..... And another horse that was to be ridden! So I didn't ride it, of course. But almost everyone else did. It was nice just being outside. Oh, by the way: Christine & Jeremy's kids are Jacob, Natasha, and Paul. If I mention them.. Now you know.

I can't exactly remember anything else fascinating that's occurred in the past little while, partially because I'm kinda tired. Swimming takes a lot out of someone, especially if most of the time is spent in evasive maneuvers, trying to avoid getting a faceful of POOL. But I'm sure I didn't swallow more than a litre of water today, so all is well.

That's all you get for now, I know I'm not a particularly avid blogger, but I post when I have something to tell all y'all about! Have a great Thanksgiving, with love from Kirsten! :)

Monday, October 4, 2010

I have a confession to make. Something I have dreaded, yet sensed was coming, has now become a reality. I. Have turned into... A coffee drinker. It breaks my heart to say those words out loud, but facing the truth can help the healing process. And there's nothing to be ashamed of, right?

. . Right! Okay, well I'm glad that's over with. I never know what to blog about, because I never know what people want to hear about. Soooo I'll just take a wild guess and tell you about the place I'm staying, just so you have a general idea of my life.

The Pamoja Ministries compound contains 8 buildings of various sizes. Each building is called something, and the one I'm living in is known as 'The Brown House'. That's right. It's brown. I'm the only person in there right now, because there aren't many short-term volunteers around this time of year. It's kinda nice having my own place, with my own bathroom. Something to know about here: Don't forget to turn your hot water heater on, unless you like having cold showers. I've gotten used to them, that's for sure. All the buildings have grilles over the windows and gates that we lock at night and when everyone leaves. At night there is also a watchmen and three guard dogs patrolling the fenced in property. So, to all of you who had concerns: Don't worry, I'm safe!

Also living on base right now are: Lis, Kim & Jacob, Jeremy & Christine, Jeff & Jan, and Davin. Visitors come and go fairly often, which can be fun. There's a ton of mission bases around here, all of which are run by great people. There's a baby home about 20 minutes away from here, where lots of girls around my age are volunteering. I'm possibly going to visit there on Wednesday, taking a daladala there and back. "What is a daladala?" you ask. WELL. It's public transportation! Think of a vehicle about the size of a minivan. With like 15 people in it, practically sitting on each other. That's a daladala. Gooooood times.

Well, if anybody wants to know more random stuff about Tanzania, let me know and I'll include it in my next blog! Have a good day!

Bada Bing, Bada Boom.

Okay, so you can thank Davin for that title. At the moment, he is re-enacting scenes from the Bollywood hit, Bride and Prejudice. Shaaaaaaame on you, Davin.

Alright, I just want to throw this out there right now, so nobody gets tooooo offended: I do not have the internet capacity to check my facebook often enough to reply to anybody right away. THERE, I said it. So all y'all can suck it up. My internet time will be increasing soon, as my own internet modem will soon be working. Hopefully. OH and if anyone would like to give me their phone number, I might just be able to call you sometime! I now have a cellphone, (Yes, it took me coming to Africa to get a cellphone) and everything here is just pay as you go. Sooo I throw some credit on my phone and I can call Canada for decently cheap. Yay! And if anybody would like to send me a letter or something.... ;D Here's my address!

Uhhhh. Stuff that's happened lately? Well my daddio headed back to Canada on Saturday. I yelled at a kitty on the way back from the airport, because its eyes were glowing at me. Aaaaaand I stepped on a lizard today! That's about all the important stuff you need to know! Har har. Jokes, I jokes. So basically I'm doing bookwork here for now. Helping Pamoja switch their accounting program stuff. Went to the Maasai Market on Sunday.. Talked to the people there, bargained for stuff, it was super fun! I managed to get a necklace and bracelet for 1000 Tanzanian shillings, which is abouuuuuttttt 85 cents. Not badddd, right? Considering he wanted just the necklace for 12 000 to start with. I'm kinda proud of that, gotta admit. ANYWAYS, it's late, I'm tired, and you are probably still shaking your head at the thought of stepping on a lizard. Peace it, homeys.

Maasailand

Nothing makes a desert so beautiful, as the Maasai people. On Friday morning (September 17th) all 9 of us set out to visit Simanjiro, a region of Maasailand. Throughout the entire 6-hour drive, noticeable changes were taking place. The temperature was increasing, and the amount of green plants was decreasing. I’m living in an area which has a fairly high elevation, so it’s slightly cooler and there are lots of plants around. This was not the case when we made it to Olerumo. Thorns, thistles, burrs, and any other pokey vegetation you can name, were abundant, but otherwise.. Nothin’. So we set up our tents amongst the dung & stick huts, (They looked rather out of place) and proceeded to sit down and drink chai. As I was informed by Jeremy, being offered chai there, is like being offered a glass of water in a Canadian person’s home. Most of what we did that evening was.. Sit. When it got dark (Which happens at 6:30, EVERY night here) supper was started, and we ate rice and beans that were cooked over the fire. Yummy! Okay, now I bet you’re just dyyyyyiiiiing to know where the nice little outhouse was. Heh. Yeah right. Now, I’ve peed in the bushes before, people: hello, I’m from QCI. It happens more than it should. But, that’s when there’s actual forest coverage. Trees to hide behind, y’know? In the desert... Not so much. You walk and walk and hope you’ll find a thorn tree big enough to kinda sorta hide behind, all the while staying out of sight of anybody who happens to be herding their cows in the area. Anyways, enough of that!
On Saturday we packed four Maasai into the back of the Safari, so a vehicle which is supposed to hold 7 is now holding 13.. And headed down to Orbili! We visited the new school site and went to a boma where some friends of the group lived. We were of course offered more chai, and sat for a while. This was kind of just how the day went, until we ended up back at Olerumo. More sitting commenced there too, of course, but of a different fashion. The children all got together as a choir, and sang for us, which was really great. I got some video of it, but of course I left my camera there. Which is not good. So, unless something amazing happens, I’m camera-less for the rest of my time here. Oooooops J
During the whole of our Maasailand experience, something occurred that changes this entire account into something better than it sounds. Everywhere we went, people watched. And waved. And came to greet us. Children would come up and want to just hold my hand or touch my hair. In every boma we visited, there were the most generous people. All of them wanted to just say hi, and come watch us as we sat there. Language barriers don’t matter in situations like that. I felt like a celebrity! Or possibly a freakshow... Either way, it was a completely unique experience, and one well worth pursuing, if you’re ever in Africa!

I've realized just now how much work a blog is. So I quit.

Juuuuust kidding. Okay. So we got here. Aaaaaand it's warm. Not crazy hot, unless you sit in the sun. Which I did yesterday. WELL, I actually don't know what to tell you guys, seeing as not too much has happened yet. The people here are so awesome, it feels like I've been here for ages already. Of course I've only actually been here for.. A day. And a bit. It's 11 AM here, so it's probably like 1 AM there. Yup. Fascinating, I know.

So yesterday, we went to town! I was reminded just now by my father, who seems to be reading over my shoulder. Davin! He drove us around! And talked to people in Swahili, 'cause he's cool like that. As you can tell, I'm kind of distracted, my pathetic attempt at blogging shows that pretty well. On Sunday we'll be showing "Nipe Jibu", the movie Pamoja Ministries made, at a local church. I've never seen the film, and I've never been to a Tanzanian church, sooo it'll be good times all around. So that's what's up! If you've been reading my blog, don't be afraid to comment! I wouldn't mind some feedback to keep this thing going!

Have a greaaaaat day :)

Monday, September 6, 2010

Oh heyyy there. I figure I should update this sucker before I head out. Uhm. So. Planes! They're cool, right? Yeah. Ours leaves at 6:30 AM. Sooo we have to be at the airport by 4:30. Which means I have to get up at like 3 in the morning. Wheeeeee! So I had some craziness going on with my India passport, aaaaaand long story short: I don't have it. But I might get it while in Tanzania! Or I might not get it. And just change my plane ticket! Adds some drama, so it's all good. Anyways, to answer some of the questions in your lil' heads: Yes, I'm excited. Yes, I'm kinda nervous. Yes, it will be fun. Aaaaaand nope, I'm not packed yet. I better do that.

So here it goes, the start of the blog. I haven't really put much thought into this, I just knew people would want to keep up-to-date on the haps in my life! Not because I'm awesome, (Just kidding, that's the actual reason) but because this is a huge step in my life! And it's super exciting! Anyways, first post accomplished! Yay! Second post will come... In a while. Don't wait up for it.
